Welcome to the award-winning Metro Atlanta Chapter of the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society (AAHGS)!
We are a volunteer-run organization aimed at educating, advocating and preserving African American and Black history, culture and genealogy.
Our chapter members are like-minded individuals who share this passion for African American family history and all things genealogy related.
Our chapter offers workshops, help sessions, and classes on genealogical and historical topics.
We have several active Special Interest Groups (SIGs) that serve to support members with more in-depth discussions on a focused subject matter.
This year, we will continue to offer virtual and hybrid meetings and programs so that all members can enjoy the chapter wherever they are located.
If you are not a member, please consider becoming one. Our local membership is $20 annually with discounted membership for members age 72 and older as well as student membership. You must also become a member of the AAHGS National at $35 annually for a total membership fee of $55 annually.
We want to empower our membership and ask that you volunteer to serve on the Board, join various committees, volunteer for the various community opportunities available and provide overall operational support.
